This book is NOT about increasing your conversions―yet these DotComSecrets will increase your conversions MORE than any headline tweak or split test you could ever hope to make.

If you are currently struggling with getting traffic to your website, or converting that traffic when it shows up, you may think you’ve got a traffic or conversion problem. In my experience, after working with thousands of businesses, I’ve found that’s rarely the case. Low traffic and weak conversion numbers are just symptoms of a much greater problem, a problem that’s a little harder to see (that’s the bad news), but a lot easier to fix (that’s the good news).

Recently, I had a chance to fly to San Diego to work with Drew Canole from FitLife.tv. He had built a following of 1.2 million followers on Facebook, but because of some changes at Facebook, his traffic had dropped by 90%. He was now spending $116 to sell a $97 product. He was no longer profitable.

Drew’s team called me because they wanted help with two things: traffic and conversions. I smiled because that’s why most people call me. They usually assume that I’m going to help them tweak a headline or change their ad targeting, and solve their problems. But I knew that, like most companies I work with, FitLife.tv’s problem wasn’t a traffic or conversion problem.

It rarely is.

More often than not, it’s a FUNNEL problem.

After listening to Drew and his team share with me all of their numbers, their pains and frustrations, and their ups and downs, I sat back in my chair and told them they were in luck.

“You don’t have a traffic or conversion problem,” I said.

“What are you talking about? Our traffic is down 90%, and we can’t break even converting our customers!” Drew said.

“The problem is you can’t spend enough to acquire a customer, and the way to fix that problem is to fix your sales funnel,” I replied calmly.

One of my mentors, Dan Kennedy, says, “Ultimately, the business that can spend the most to acquire a customer wins.”

The reason Drew’s business wasn’t making money was because he wasn’t able to spend enough to acquire a customer. If we fix his sales funnel so that instead of making $97 for every $116 he spends, he can start making two to three times as much money for each sale―and then the whole game changes. Suddenly, he can afford to buy more traffic from more places; he can outbid his competitors, and he can spend two to three times more than he is now, all while becoming exponentially more profitable.

So, what changes did we make to Drew’s business? How did we take a sales funnel that was losing money and transform it into a tool that allowed FitLife.tv to spend MORE money than its competitors, while gaining more traffic, more customers, and more sales? THAT is what this book is about.

This book will take you on a journey similar to the one I took Drew and his team on. It will help you understand how to structure your company’s products and services in a way that will allow you to make two to three times as much money from the same traffic that you’re getting now. And when you follow the steps, you’ll open the floodgates, allowing you to spend a lot more money to get a lot more new customers.

The Online Business Bible

Having had an online business since January 2003, I've read many, MANY books about online marketing, and have even purchased some of the big-ticket courses, such as Jeff Walker's "Product Launch Formula" and Mike Filsaime's "Butterfly Marketing". I've even had a chance to review Frank Kern's "Mass Control" and "List Control" products. Others I've learned from include Rich Schefren, Glenn Livingston, Todd Brown, Mark Joyner, Terry Dean, Yanik Silver, Jim Edwards, Willie Crawford, Jimmy D. Brown, Dan Kennedy, and the list goes on and on.

I can say, without a second's hesitation, that Russell Brunson's "DOTCOM Secrets" book trumps all of them.

This book has just the right mix of high-level strategy and low-level tactics to make it a solid playbook for anyone who wants to make their online business a profitable one, while operating with the highest degree of ethics and integrity. It has shown me where I have made many mistakes along the way, and as I implement the ideas, I'm finding that it's easier to attract the right customers who resonate with my materials, and help them see the value in owning my higher-end products.

The only downside to this book is that it doesn't address the technical side of things, and this means that a newbie will need to go elsewhere for the final implementation. The good news is that once you have implemented the information here, you won't have to rebuild everything again, because you'll have done it right the first time.

DotCom Secrets is a Masterpiece! And Russell Brunson is a larger-than-life character, literally giving everyone this information that has taken him and his teams decades to perfect. To teach any subject well is an immense task, especially across different levels of readers' experience. Russell resoundingly succeeds here, even though there are so many pieces to this kind of puzzle.
As a small business owner who has constantly found myself behind the curve of technology, hiring consultants and designers, trying to get this and that right (meaning that my wonderful products and information are going out to the world, being received, valued, desired, and purchased), and never finding the secret formula, I have repeatedly retreated to my cave, saying "If this is EVER going to happen, I'M going to have to figure out how to do EVERY piece of it myself".
In discovering Russell Brunson and his DotCom Secrets book, I have found every piece I need already figured out by an amazing human being. (You don't get Tony Robbins to plug you if you're not an amazing human being. Or have Dan Kennedy write the foreword for your book if you're not an amazing marketer. Some great ideas and concepts

This manuscript contains some great concepts about how to structure and operate an online entrepreneurial project. It also presents interesting frameworks that will definitely help entrepreneurs along their first steps of their online journey.

What I didn't like about the book is that it's main focus is on small businesses, sometimes it seems that the lack of scalability of these techniques could compromise the growth of a business aiming to become a medium size enterprise.

In any case, this book it's a great guideline for entrepreneurs and you will definitely get a couple of useful insights from the author.

Satan's Sorrow was my joy

A beautifully eloquent book which sadly demonstrates the decline in the expressiveness of modern language. I was gripped from the first chapter onwards and felt empathy and emotion as to the plight of the main characters.
The devil is wonderfully described and I feel as if I know him all too well. He passes such sublime insights into theological debate that it sets the mind spinning. It is a cleverly described work of fiction which tends to polarise one's opinion towards religion and the general inhumanity of mankind. What struck me was that the description of "jaded youth", of selfish and "sensual egotism" in the late 1800's was equally applicable in the new Millennium. After reading it I found myself less likely to bemoan daily trivial problems and more likely to appreciate the simpler beauty of nature around me.

That the Devil himself could have sorrows of his own is a concept that many poets and writers have expressed,but none of them can surpass Marie Corelli's attempt.The book describes the life of one Geoffery Tempest,a struggling writer who half unknowingly lets the Devil take charge of his affairs.He becomes a millionaire overnight,then publishes his book,gets married to a beautiful lady and still does not find any solace.The book describes the devil's plight in moving detail ,and you really feel sorry for the Fallen Angel ,who loves the Lord much more than petty humans.A must-read for discerning lovers of good writing.

Pratik Desai

Pratik Desai, PhD, is the Principal Scientist and cofounder of a connected devices start-up, Imbue Labs, where he develops scalable and interoperable architecture for wearable devices and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms during the day. At night, he leads the development of an open source IoT initiative, the Semantic Repository of Things. Pratik has 8 years of research and design experience in various layers of the IoT and its predecessor technologies such as wireless sensor networks, RFID, and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. His domains of expertise are the IoT, Semantic Web, machine learning, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Pratik completed his MS and PhD from Wright State University, Ohio, and collaborated with the Ohio Center of Excellence in Knowledge-enabled Computing (Kno.e.sis) during his doctoral research. His doctoral research was focused on developing situation awareness frameworks for IoT devices, enabling semantic web-based reasoning and handling the uncertainty associated with sensor data. In his personal life, Pratik is an avid DIY junkie and likes to get hands-on experience on upcoming technologies. The book begins with an appropriate introduction to three main subjects: Python programming language, the dialect of C/C++ used in Arduino, and the basics of the Arduino platform.
Those subjects are covered in the first 47 pages and are not explained in depth, but all the main features are properly introduced.
Anyone who is familiar with a high level language can find this jump start suitable for his needs.
The book is full of interesting tools and tips to speed up your learning experience.
I particularly appreciate that there are many examples of code; first of all in Python, but often also in Arduino's own language.
The next part of the book provides a lot of recipes for various components (servo and DC motors, LEDs, speakers and so on) presenting a mini-project with the appropriate hardware configuration and a suitable Python program to deal with it.
If you need to find the proper hardware to complete those mini-projects, you will be pleased to notice that there is a very useful choice of URLs to online stores (such as Amazon).
Then, the author describes how to build graphical interfaces with a GUI library called Tkinter, storing and reading data from files and plotting charts with input values from sensors.
At the end of this part, a more complex example is introduced: DIY Thermostat. To complete this project, Raspberry PI is described and there are the main guidelines to use it to deploy the project.
Another half of the book is devoted to illustrate the use of Arduino and Python dealing with networks. At the beginning the basics are presented; then the author deals with "Internet of Things" projects and very advanced features such as web servers, REST interfaces and Amazon AWS services.
A last project summarizes all the concepts listed above.
The book is very well written and covers many subjects. A reader can start with the parts that he finds more interesting, but reading the entire book is a must for everyone who needs a really good coverage of Arduino and Python.
Sometimes I would have liked to get a more detailed description of some topics, but I understand that it would have been impossible, considering the impressive number of examples and projects discussed in the whole book.
I consider this book an ideal reading for programmers who want to work with sensors.

Great book for self education!

First my background: I'm an old software/hardware guy who first used the Intel 4004 microprocessor back in 1973. Since then
I have been professionally involved with microprocessors and microcontrollers, even after retirement. I've taught
college level courses on the micro. I know and have used quite a few languages from assembly to C++.
Going all the way through this book would keep anyone out of trouble for a long time. I must admit not getting
all the way through at this writing, although I have skimmed the remainder.

The author, in his easy to follow style, is honest and points out when Python should be used and when other "static"
(compiled) languages such as C would be better choice. He demonstrates use of both C and Python in the examples.

Fair treatment of the three major operating systems is refreshing. Those are Windows, Mac, and Linux. Linux
may not be the most popular, but many experimenters who would find this book useful do use Linux. He also
spends a good amount of time bringing new users of Python and the Arduino gently up to speed. Some background
in writing computer programs and elementary knowledge of electronics is desirable, but may not be necessary
as he explains most things in detail.

The "Firmata" protocol was totally foreign to me, and I finally figured out (correctly?) that the more common
term might be "debugger". First time encountering that term, but of course "sketch" (meaning source code) was also
foreign to me before encountering the Arduino. I did not see the common term "bootloader" mentioned. The
author is using the terminology of the Arduino enthusiast rather than those of mainstream hobbyists and
professionals.

The reader is led through some varied and interesting projects including mating with a Raspberry Pi and other
I/O modules and making a web server. Since the Pi is a substantial outlay of money, I believe the advertising
for the book should give some indications of what is required to fulfill the books projects. To that end, I
would suggest at beginning of book a complete list of materials needed for all projects so reader can order
them before needing them. Many can be ordered through Amazon or eBay from China for little expense and free shipping,
but it takes about 2-4 weeks to receive them.

There is a good intro to Fritzing and how to put it to good use in the projects. Fritzing produces more of
a pictorial view of a project which is great for beginners, but addition of an actual schematic diagram
would be more satisfactory for seasoned users and a good learning tool for the beginner.

Wow! This book goes far beyond my expectations in the projects to include ethernet, wifi, IOT -- expect to
spend some money on the items needed, but the education will be worth it. I do not believe I've seen a
book cover this much territory with such easily understood directions. The author even managed to get Twitter
involved! The book seems quite suitable for a class textbook, easily for middle school grades, and maybe
for advanced elementary school students, but is certainly not dumbed down to insult an adult.

I highly recommend this book -- the author has managed to write for nearly all persons of various backgrounds.

Useful and enjoyable book

I had an Arduino Uno board at home for some time. I had few projects in my head but I didn’t have the required knowledge of electronics and C programming to bring them to an end. I have been programming in Python for a long time and I bought this book with the hope of being able to somehow simplify the projects by using a more familiar programming language. The book was extremely useful as it clearly explains which part of the code should be written in C and when it is possible to use Python.

The first chapter of the book introduces the reader to both Python and Arduino and can be safely skipped if the reader is already familiar with both of them. The author provides detailed step by step instructions on how to install what is needed. Throughout the book instructions are given for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.

The next chapter is about the Arduino Firmata protocol and the pySerial Python library. This chapter was probably one of the most interesting to me as it shows how to interact with the Arduino board by using Python.

The following chapters are a little bit more complex but they are still easy to follow, and the author shows how to use various electronic components such as a passive infrared (PIR) sensor to detect movements, a potentiometer, a buzzer, a DC motor, a servomotor, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, and a light sensor. Almost every chapter proposes little projects that can be as easy as blinking an LED or rather complex. The instructions of the projects are always very clear and the provided schemes are (at least for me that I have no experience in electronics) extremely useful.

A portion of the book is devoted to provide a GUI to the projects. The author chose to use Tkinter. This framework is probably not as features rich and appealing as other frameworks but it has the advantage to be part of the Python standard library, so there is no need to install anything else to use it.

It was a welcome surprise to discover that the book also explained how to include both the Arduino and a Raspberry Pi into the same project. I own a Raspberry Pi and I have been interested in mating the two boards for a long time.

Other topics that are explained in the book are how to provide network capabilities to the Arduino and how to build a simple and RESTful web application in Python.

In the final chapters are presented two big (and more complex) projects that make use of all what have been explained in the previous chapters.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this book

About the Author
J.M. Barrie was born in 1860, the ninth of ten children of hard-working parents in Scotland's jute-weaving industry. Fascinated by stories of her own life told him by his mother, he was determined to write, finding work on the Nottingham Journal after graduating from Edinburgh University. In 1885, he moved to London as a freelance writer and successfully sold the Auld Licht Idylls, a volume based on his mother's tales. By the time Peter Pan opened on the London stage in 1904, Barrie had written more than thirty novels and plays, many autobiographical and several of them major hits such as The Little Minister, Quality Street and The Admirable Crichton. Knighted and awarded the Order of Merit he continued writing into old age. He died in 1937.

great book

I recently picked up a copy of this book at the Lenox used book sale. My copy was inscribed by someone who gave it as a present in 1941. The book jacket says that it is a "children's book" but that's along the lines of saying that Gulliver's Travels is a children's book. The author is the same one who wrote Peter Pan.
It was written around the turn of the century and its style is a little bit more Victorian. However, it is a very interesting book, and I was fascinated by it. (Not quite fascinated enough to read it in one sitting, but fascinated enough that it was hard to tear myself away.)
The narrator is a man who was in love with a woman and circumstances separted them. Now, about 20 years later, she moves not far away from him with her son. The focus is on the circumstances involving the son, which is basically a simple love story.
Nothing original here, but some of the language is very poetic, and he tells a gripping story. Those who are interested in such things will enjoy the Scottish dialect and description of the lifestyle of a small Scottish weaving town.

A Little Diamond

While I couldn't find the World Syndicate 1933 hardback edition that I read of J.M. Barrie's tale first copyrighted in 1891, I did get caught up in the events of the story. The protagonist is a minor character in terms of involvement that recounts the events of the little minister Gavin Dishart. At age 21, Dishart has graduated from university and assumes his first church of the Auld Licht, moving to Thrums with his mother Martha. There with housekeeper Jean they move into the parsonage. The story is told through the eyes of the schoolmaster, who we learn is a biological relative unbeknownst to Gavin. The people of the district are primarily weavers. Their thick brogues are written into the dialogue with unusual words (ken, syne, dominie) that take a bit of time to get used to for the modern reader. For instance Rob Dow talks about the upcoming rain with this response: "Ay," said Tosh eagerly, "but will it be a saft, cowdie sweet ding-on?" You get the sense that they're considering whether it'll be a hard or soft rain, but the specifics zoom past the modern reader not used to the brogue. (I found it interesting that one townsman is named Peter Tosh whose name would be today better known to me as a reggae singer from Jamaica!)

A strike squelching by the military and police is outmaneuvered by the information spread by a gypsy referred to as "the Egyptian." After the opening salvo, the events of the story become less political and more personal as Gavin slowly falls in love with the Egyptian, Babbie, who hides a false identity. With complications made by Lord Rintoul who also wants to marry Babbie for her beauty, the story becomes a romance between money and love. Barrie throws in a bit of adventure with a major flood that rearranges the landscape before bringing the story to conclusion. I found the story to be charming with themes and characters that still speak to us today. This story is a little diamond, well worth dusting off by the modern reader. Enjoy!

Lousy Editing Job

I have read "The Little Minister" by J. M. Barrie in the past, and the story itself is wonderful.

However, I do have a complaint with the company (The Book Jungle) that published this edition.

Apparently this edition was not proof read, because there were countless errors.

1. Many spots where whole blocks of paragraphs were missing from a chapter, or interspersed in another chapter altogether.

2. Several spots where there were duplicated blocks of paragraphs in the same chapter.

3. Many inappropropriate spelling errors.

4. Punctuation errors, for example periods in inappropriate places, breaking up the sentence structure in the wrong spots.

Overall, I was very disappointed in this particular edition. I have to say it was the worst publication of a book that I have ever read.

And the sad thing was, it cost almost $20.00

Great book about wearables and IoT. Clear examples that were easy to follow and understand.

I wanted to learn more about wearables, and IoT devices.

This book does a great job of showing how simple it is work with these technologies using the Android Ecosystem. The examples walk you through everything of examples of various aspects of the Android wearables ecosystem (including location, voice, and fitness).

Sakis Kasampalis (@SKasampalis) is a software engineer living in the Netherlands. He is not dogmatic about particular programming languages and tools; his principle is that the right tool should be used for the right job. One of his favorite tools is Python because he finds it very productive. Sakis was also the technical reviewer of Mastering Object-oriented Python and Learning Python Design Patterns, published by Packt Publishing.

Good book!

This book is well organized and concisely written. Each chapter stands on its own and can be read independently, which fits my style and allows for reading it as time permits. The chapters each contain some theory or explanation as well as copious amounts of code and real world examples. The use cases were also helpful in understanding situations where the design patterns could be implemented.

I purchased the eBook version which had links embedded in the text for additional detail and in-depth explanations on related topics. I like to explore as I read and learn, so this was a welcome feature.

The only con for me was that it's written for Python 3, however, the concepts apply to Python 2 and other languages. Eventually I will move to Python 3 and this was a gave me a chance to try Python 3.

I recommend if you want to learn about design patterns and you're a Python user.

New ideas to refactor and optimize your code

If you need to find new ideas on how to optimize or make your code more easy to interpret this book will give you several examples of code structures to make it more efficient or more simple to interpret. The book writing style is a bit dry and it's not for beginners(you need to know what python is about and how to code with it or you will get lost) but the core content is sound so if you know your stuff and you want to learn new coding styles this book is for you.

About the Author

William Harrington

William Harrington lives and works at his family's cattle station, Olga Downs, in northwest Queensland, Australia. He attended university at James Cook University, Townsville. At the age of 20, he established his own company, Harrington Systems Electronics, which sells the NLIS RFID tag reader – The Pipe Reader that he designed and manufactures. He also received the AgForce President's Innovation Award in 2005. In 2006, he graduated with honors as a computer systems engineer and received the Queensland Primary Industries Young Achiever Award. Since then, he has gone on to design the uSee remote monitoring system, a revolutionary and low-cost remote monitoring solution. Having a home-based company has become part of a unique diversification strategy for the family and has provided them the opportunity to stay on the land. Due to a never-ending passion for technology, William speaks regularly on many topics, so he will bring a futuristic version of the technology that is possible in the next decade. Since 2011, he has also been a director and programmer for Farm Apps Pty Ltd, developing smartphone and tablet apps that increase farming efficiency. He enjoys travelling and brewing beer at home. William works alongside his wife Hollie, having recently welcomed their young son, Jack, into the world.

excellent introductory book for novices to learn about Raspberry Pi or Raspbian

This book is an excellent introductory book for novices to learn about Raspberry Pi or Raspbian in particular. The topics covered in the book range from the Raspberry Pi hardware platform, to all major aspects of the software, including the fundamentals of the customized Raspbian OS, software management on Raspbian, graphical interface, and command-line console. Even people who have an IT background but want to know about Raspberry Pi can benefit from the book. The book was well written and reads like a breeze. The only improvement I would suggest is to avoid using black background in figures illustrating the console. I read the book on an e-book reader. Certain text is difficulty to read inside the console with that setting. In addition, I spotted a few typos, probably because the book was published in a fast pace by Packt. Overall, this is a great book. I recommend it.

A basic text to get you started using the Raspberry Pi.

As with another review, this guide could be considered elementary. Having worked with the Raspberry Pi from it's initial sale and having introduced and taught dozens of people about it, I can say the book is clean and complete. It doesn't go too deep, but it doesn't leave anything out. If you were to give this book and a RPi to a person that has little or no computing background, they would be able to get a basic start on using the RPi. If you were to give the book to a person well versed in Linux or computing, they would find it very basic. Essentially, the text is good at what it does, and not much more.
