A confusing presentation, needs editing.

Full disclosure: I couldn't get more than a handful of chapters into this book (without having to put it away).
I found this book difficult to follow and full of typographical errors, some being contrary to what was meant. Sections felt disjointed and unconnected. Several times I felt I was missing something that was not mentioned.
This book made simple JSON concepts seem more complicated.
The information presented maybe correct but you will have an easier time finding this information piecemeal online. Perhaps later chapters will be more beneficial for its referential value.
Honestly, this book could make use of some proper editing.
I wanted to add a review to balance the other two 5 star reviews, of which I disagree with.

Not a good book for beginners

This book would work well as a reference for an experienced JSON user who wants to know more about the history, standards and behind-the-scenes features of JSON. That said, this is NOT the best book for beginning JSON users. The first few chapters give the false impression that it is a beginners book as they set the stage by reviewing the basics of JavaScript. As soon as the topic switches from JavaScript to JSON in chapter 5 it becomes very verbose, technical and doesn't contain many examples that you can use to follow along with at home. As an experienced programmer I found the presentation of information to be very confusing. Like another reviewer said, I was tempted to stop reading altogether after chapter 5.
