Great book for beginners, packed with lots of useful information!

Comprehensive coverage for a 'dummies' book! Good beginner's book for BeagleBone / BeagleBone Black.
Highlights:
- How to install the OS image: Explains the difference between SD vs eMMC and choosing appropriate image for different revisions of the BeagleBone hardware.
- How to connect to the board: SSH over USB/Ethernet, serial over USB (helpful when debugging boot problems).
- Intro to Linux commands. Plus a nice section on keyboard shortcuts.
- Circuits 101: voltage, current, resistence, basic formulas and theorems, circuit components, etc
- Digital circuit: hardware components; configure GPIO pins for input/output/PWM. Also an introduction to the various "capes" -- addon boards for the Beagleboard.
- Using the BeagleBone as a desktop computer: Introduction to the LXDE desktop environment. (I would have prefer this to be covered earlier, perhaps at the same time as Linux commands.)
- Programming: Introduction to the Cloud9 IDE and programming BoneScript (JavaScript running on Node.js) as well as Python to interface with the hardware components. Later sections of the book includes lots of interesting projects, including examples on how to build a web server running Node.js to report current temperate.

POWERFUL GUIDE FOR BUILDING FANTASTIC PROJECTS!!

Are you an expert in electronics, programming and embedded systems? If you are, then this book is for you. Authors Rui Santos and Luís Miguel Costa Perestrelo, have done an outstanding job of writing a book that walk's you through the world of digital electronics and programming by using BeagleBone.
Authors Santos and Perestrelo, begin by getting you acquainted with BeagleBone. In addition, they explain which distribution of Linux to use; as well as, where you can download it and how to install it. The authors also present multiple ways to accomplish something that they've found to be quite useful: controlling your BeagleBone remotely. Then, they continues by showing you hoe you can use the command prompt to get around a computer in a way that you're probably not used to: using only text. The authors then get you up to speed regarding the most basic principles of electricity, so that you can understand what is happening on the circuits you build to interact with your BeagleBone.
