Great Exam Prep Book - Publisher's Need to be Clear

I want to review this book from two perspectives: that of an author who has worked with multiple publishers and that of a reader. First as a reader.
Robert Bartz has done an exceptional job of covering the certification objectives of an insane exam created by CompTIA. The objectives for this exam are so unrealistic as to be a near embarrassment to the certification industry. For an entry-level exam on mobility to expect you to compare and contrast CDMA, TDMA, GSM, WiMAC, UMTS, CSD, EVDO, HSPA, LTE and other local wireless technologies as well and learn anything more than that in preparation for a single certification is beyond challenging. However, even with that, Robert has covered the objectives sufficiently that the exam candidate should be well-prepared.
Second as an author. I have written books for publishers, in fact, I wrote a couple in this very series or "Real-World Skills" books. The publishers constrain the author and then do a horrible job of communicating the style and intent of the book to the buyer such that the author gets the blame for the publisher's decisions. To state it clearly, the publisher constrains the authors of this series such that they must focus first on real-world and second on the exam and, hence, fewer energies are available for the creation of exam prep add-ons like practice tests and so on.
Now, such a series is good and needful. Real-world perspectives while prepping for exams is exactly what I believe in; however, publishers, it is your job to ensure the cover materials and introduction clearly communicate your intent to the buyer/reader. This way readers do not blame authors for that which was out of their control.
Now that I have ranted a bit, I revert back to the book again. When it comes to wireless, Robert Bartz clearly knows his stuff. The book contains more accuracy related to wireless than the Mobility+ exam itself. If you want a good introduction to all things wireless, this book is for you. Regardless of what others might have said, if you want to study for Mobility+, this book is for you!

Like many of the new sybex offerings this book does ...

I am steadily moving away from sybex products. Like many of the new sybex offerings this book does not come with a PDF copy. That seems to be the new model. It is unfortunate that the company has gone this route.
That is my major complaint. Other than that the book seems to be fine. I will be using my all in one guide and when I am not on a plane or out I will use this book to refresh.
It does seem strange that the book is about “mobility” and has no mobile capability.

Total joke for a cert book.

Stay far away from this book if you want to use it for the Mobility + exam. The book does not have any exam questions or written labs at the end of a chapter. Its online test bank is a total joke. You cannot even test by chapter!
